To All Friends of Kathryn Ptacek and Charles L. Grant:

On Friday, September 15, 2006, Charlie died shortly after 10 p.m. His brother, Jack, came over to visit, and we had pizza and were watching the Mets game, and we were making plans for Sunday ... We called 911; at the hospital, the medical folks continued to work on him, but it was too late.

I cannot begin to tell you how I feel about this huge hole in my life. My friend and pal and hubby was only home ten days. I wish it had been a thousand times that. But even that wouldn't have been long enough. There is never enough time. This coming February we would have been married 25 years; I'm just glad that we had this time together.

Visitations were held on Wednesday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., at the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral House here [Newton NJ]. The funeral was Thursday at 11 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church [Newton NJ].

I am very very glad that Charlie was able to celebrate our birthday at home. He was so happy to be here; he kept saying over and over that it was wonderful to be home. And it was. I miss you, honey.
